too funny...... but really, it is frustrating to see "sex" take over the news once again- first little blue dress, now this.....like we don't have more pressing issues, when oil hits a peak price the same day... Basically, I figure it's between him and his wife to deal with- not sure why it should affect his ability to govern.... is just icky to me...... but the notion of sex with strangers, let alone paid strangers is icky to me anyway.... just don't get it....

too funny!

any sites you can recommend for finding these "local, homegrown, sustainably produced prostitutes"? perhaps "Whole Foods" will create a new division, "Whole Whores"? ;-)

this blog has the opposite (tho still tongue in cheek) take:
http://dharmajoint.blogspot.com/2008/03/eliot-spitzer-and-forgotten-if.html:
"What a surprise we New Yorkers got yesterday afternoon. It wasn't the news that a high ranking public official had enjoyed (we assume) the services of practitioners of the "oldest profession," but rather that a totally unregulated market, at least here in the US, could be so inefficient.

$5,500 an hour! C'mon Mr. Spitzer, haven't you heard about the virtues of globalization, specifically outsourcing (perhaps in-sourcing is a better fit), i.e. labor market arbitrage? With that kind of cash he could have flown to Asia or Eastern Europe, enjoyed the services of multiple women for days, and may well have avoided the prying ears of the FBI to boot. I guess some high ranking public officials aren't rational, profit maximizers."

"Client 9 allegedly made all the arrangements for meeting with the prostitute, identified in the affidavit as "Kristen," including train transportation from New York to Washington and back."

Train transportation, eh? He must indeed have been listening to you...

Sharon,

Thanks for the wit and levity! I don't have to tell you how seriously some of the "doomsday" sites take themselves. Also, your post re how people have survived cooperatively was one of the most heartening things I've read. Not that I am unaware of the nature of the times, but more love and less fear is ultimately all we have-that's all the Gov wanted, more love!
