More Music for Farm Girls and Guys, Comic Edition

Over at the ye newe blogge (www.scienceblogs.com/casaubonsbook), I’ve got a couple of posts up about the best songs to put on an agrarian mix CD. Here’s a few more to add to the mix, including some of the funny ones. Unfortunately, the embed video function is not working for me, so I’ve had to link:
First of all, I knew the Arrogant Worms from “I am Cow” and “Carrot Juice is Murder” but this is absolutely my new favorite song - and I suggest that this is exactly how displaced farmers should respond as they lose their land. I will happily lead the agrarian pirates movement! KB, thank you so much for this one!

Gotta include one of the classic feminist country songs, about the joys of farm life with a good man…and why going back to the subsistence life is a better process if you do it equitably:

Eli went through a period where “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” was his favorite song and we listened to it, ummm…a lot more times than any person should have to, so I can’t possibly include anything by John Denver here, even if muppets were involved, but I’m liking Jody Miller’s Voice when she sings “Thank God I’m a Country Girl” - what amazing pipes - and a nice fiddle too!

I’m having fun with this - more suggestions, serious and silly are all welcome!
