Eliot Spitzer Reads My Blog!!

Sharon March 11th, 2008

I hate to interrupt the flow of useful food storage information, but I must note that my governor apparently reads my blog and takes it very, very seriously.

A while back, I posted an essay about what you should do with your tax return, and one of the choices was “Hookers, lots and lots of hookers.”  If you’ve been following the news, you’ll know that Spitzer apparently was concerned about the financial and environmental collapse of society and took this opportunity to use his Bush tax rebate (which I gather is significantly larger than my own, since this was no cheap prostitute, and there were inter-state flights involved) for one last hurrah.

I’m sure we’re all shocked, shocked and appalled that an American politician would have sex with a prostitute.  But let us be sure and take the right lessons from this.  1. Always listen to Sharon, but do be aware, sometimes she’s joking. 2. If you are going to listen to me, show you have the brains G-d gave a squirrel, and do it in an environmentally sound way - had Spitzer used a local, homegrown, sustainably produced prostitute, rather than flying one around the country, he might never have gotten into trouble.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled food storage class - and remember, important people are listening.  Shouldn’t you ;-)?

Thanks for the wit and levity! I don’t have to tell you how seriously some of the “doomsday” sites take themselves. Also, your post re how people have survived cooperatively was one of the most heartening things I’ve read. Not that I am unaware of the nature of the times, but more love and less fear is ultimately all we have-that’s all the Gov wanted, more love!

“Client 9 allegedly made all the arrangements for meeting with the prostitute, identified in the affidavit as “Kristen,” including train transportation from New York to Washington and back.”

Train transportation, eh? He must indeed have been listening to you…

I too laughed out loud, and I am grateful for your wit in these times. We need laughter right now.

I just want you to know that “local, homegrown, sustainably produced prostitute” is now my favorite phrase.

    too funny!

any sites you can recommend for finding these “local, homegrown, sustainably produced prostitutes”? perhaps “Whole Foods” will create a new division, “Whole Whores”? ;-)

this blog has the opposite (tho still tongue in cheek) take:
“What a surprise we New Yorkers got yesterday afternoon. It wasn’t the news that a high ranking public official had enjoyed (we assume) the services of practitioners of the “oldest profession,” but rather that a totally unregulated market, at least here in the US, could be so inefficient.

$5,500 an hour! C’mon Mr. Spitzer, haven’t you heard about the virtues of globalization, specifically outsourcing (perhaps in-sourcing is a better fit), i.e. labor market arbitrage? With that kind of cash he could have flown to Asia or Eastern Europe, enjoyed the services of multiple women for days, and may well have avoided the prying ears of the FBI to boot. I guess some high ranking public officials aren’t rational, profit maximizers.”

too funny…… but really, it is frustrating to see “sex” take over the news once again- first little blue dress, now this…..like we don’t have more pressing issues, when oil hits a peak price the same day… Basically, I figure it’s between him and his wife to deal with- not sure why it should affect his ability to govern…. is just icky to me…… but the notion of sex with strangers, let alone paid strangers is icky to me anyway…. just don’t get it….
