Quiet…too Quiet

Just FYI, don’t expect much from this blog until next Wednesday. Will I be spending Memorial Day on a road trip, packing the dog, four children and the goats into the back of our Ford Taurus as we seek out the best of the roadside snake-related attractions? No thanks! But friends of ours are doing the road trip thing, and coming here, and there will be 13 people, including 7 kids ages 9 and down racing around my house, and between that, cleaning, and providing meals, accomodations and fun for the guests, and the usual springtime farm craziness, something has to go, and I fear it is the blog.
So go read the folks on my sidebar. Play “clown car” yourselves and cram as many living things as possible into a small vehicle for entertainment. Or best of all, go out into sun and plant some food. Enjoy the weekend!

Sounds like a fun weekend.
I am going to be ripping out the shadier side of my front yard to start a rain garden, and putting in as much of the veggie garden as time/weather permits. (As well as catching up with work from my (home, sewing) business. It’s wedding season. *sigh*) The guy I get my heirloom tomato starts from has stated that he thinks we should wait to get them in the ground, ditto with eggplant and peppers. At least until next week. I’m inclined to agree with him, but the summer squash and carrot seeds should be OK in the ground, and the rosemary and oregano that I pulled through the winter in pots should really go in the ground now. (The little broccoli starts are looking terribly cute, but haven’t grown appreciably. Hmmmm.) I’m even going to plant stealth salad in my front perennials where there is “border” space — the mesclun picture in particular looks awfully pretty.
Hey, I get to play in the dirt most of this weekend! Sounds like a good weekend for me, too.

I do not understand how it is possible for any comment on this blog to have zero comments, 24 hours later. Must be the end of the world!
” Play “clown car” yourselves” made me smile. When I was very small; around 1954, my family of 7 (all older but one) visited Japan. We put on a show every time we got out of a taxi, and jaws would drop, as these giants just kept coming out of the tiny car.
Maybe you need to put up a tent, for the extra clowns?
