Independence Days is Here!
Sharon September 22nd, 2009
Ok, you’d think that the third time around, it’d be old hat to receive the first copy of your book, but it isn’t. Not to mention that this one has by far the most awesome cover image - I’m mentally composing a recipe for pickles that look just like this.
Ok, I’m psyched. Heres’s the cover photo, btw, if you want to see it: http://www.newsociety.com/bookid/4048
Sharon, staring at shiny pretty object, while the raspberries she just picked are being neglected.

Bet the inside is just as good.
I don’t think the thrill ever goes away.
Congratulations.
That is a great choice of cover photo!
Congratulations! It feels like just yesterday that it was just the seeds of an idea in our first food storage class. How very exciting!
I noticed last week that Amazon was recommending it to me . . . which I thought was unusually stupid since I’d bought all your books from them already . . . and then I realized it was a new one! Congratulations.
Congratulations! That must be so exciting for a writer to see the published book that is their ideas and words. Now there’s a book cover that really tells you what that book is all about.
Enjoy! Have a sit with the book and some raspberries to eat while you read.
Peace, shamba
Congratulations!
This is GREAT! But please do not neglect your raspberries.
That really is an awesome cover…
I have to disagree just a little with risa b. To hell with the raspberries! Make syrup tomorrow. Time to crack a bottle of (local) sparkling wine or beer and toast your success!!!
I wonder when this will come to Canada?!
I can’t wait for mine to get here!
I bought Depletion and Abundance and borrowed A Nation of Farmers and took the first food storage class but…I’m ordering a copy anyway!
Congratulations!
Now, go, spend more time with your family, goat baby/ies and gardens!

Congratulations!
I preordered my copy months ago, will be (nearly) as excited as you when I get to hold it
Congratulations! Release day is such a great feeling and that cover is beautiful!
Congrats! I hear it’s really good…
Congratulations on your third book! Bet it is as wonderful as the other two. Looking forward to picking up a copy. Read your blog just about everyday. Please keep it coming.
Congratulations! Hooray! Felicitations! Break out the hard cider!
By now, it is close to midnight there, and you’ve long since either dealt with the raspberries or set them aside, or maybe used this as an excuse to turn them into raspberry liqueur. I hope you had some sort of celebration, or are planning one. And also some time off to enjoy your own independence days.
NM, who really needs to go deal with plums and tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers (help!) but has to work instead, and is consequently starting to wonder what would happen if she just stuck them all into a vat of vodka.
Mazel Tov Sharon!!
And what a cool cover!-cant wait to read it!
Raspberries got jammed (holiday presents, a la Crunch’s new challenge), and I’ve managed to stop staring long enough to start finding typos…
Sharon
Looks great!
I’m really happy to see that my library has ordered 8 copies and I’m 15th in the queue so far! Woot!
I know the feeling, and it’s wonderful. Nearly exploded when I got a box of mine delivered to me.
Now you have to sell them.
(always a downside)
I think it’s Gaiman’s Law, first described by Neil Gaiman, that when an author gets the first copies of a new book, the first page it’s opened to reveals a typo. So don’t worry about that — it’s just part of it!
Congratulations! I love your cover art choice, and can’t wait to see what’s inside!

Yippee! Many congrats Sharon. Nothing like holding a book you wrote in your hands.
Best wishes,
Anna Marie
Congratulations Sharon! This is wonderful news. I put my name on the list yesterday for a copy.
Regards,
Marilyn
PS: Cover art work is very cool!
Aww, that is a really cute cover! I love it! Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!
